Ball Milling-Induced Plate-like Sub-microstructured Iron ...

8 days ago · The remediation of soil contaminated by 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl) ethane (DDT) has been a challenge. In this paper, the degradation performances of the ball milling-induced plate-like sub-microstructured zero valent iron (SMZVI) to DDT in a real soil environment is studied.

Edge-carboxylated graphene nanosheets via ball milling | PNAS

Apr 10, 2012 · Low-cost, high-yield production of graphene nanosheets (GNs) is essential for practical applications. We have achieved high yield of edge-selectively carboxylated graphite (ECG) by a simple ball milling of pristine graphite in the presence of dry ice. The resultant ECG is highly dispersable in various solvents to self-exfoliate into single- and few-layer (≤ 5 layers) GNs.

Self-sustaining reactions induced by ball milling

tions of terms such as ball milling induced, mechanochemical or mechanical alloying with combustive, explosive, self-propagating or self-sustaining. This review advocates using MSR, the acronym for mechanically-induced self-propagating reaction, as proposed by Yen [6]. Investigating MSRs is of interest from several points of view: 1. Applications.

Self-Propagating Reactions Induced by Mechanical Alloying ...

Mechanically-induced Self-propagating Reactions (MSR) are possible in highly exothermic powder mixtures. 3 Initially, milling results in activation, similar to any other mechanical alloying process. But at a critical time, called the ignition time, the reaction rate begins to increase.

Ball milling of blue-emitting crystal 1B of gold(I) isocyanide complex 1 induces a phase transition to yellow-emitting powder 1Y G, which has the same solid structure as the previously reported 1Y obtained upon photoirradiation of 1B.This is the first example of mechanical stimulation inducing a phase change to a photo-accessible crystalline phase.

Phase transformation of cobalt induced by ball milling ...

We have found that phase transformation can occur in cobalt when subjected to ball milling. The two modifications of cobalt, i.e., face‐center‐cubic (fcc) and hexagonal close‐packed (hcp) phases, which usually coexist at room temperature and are often difficult to be separated from each other, can now be easily separated by using the simple ball milling technique.
